How to Cut

Short Layer builds a lightweight, textured silhouette by cutting each section at a consistent elevation, creating movement and volume throughout the entire head.

Wet the hair thoroughly and check that the wig is not tilted. The Short Layer technique lifts each panel away from the head at a uniform angle, using the previous section as a guide to maintain an even layer from nape to top.

Starting at the nape, comb out the first section diagonally and cut at a 45-degree angle to the head to establish the base guideline.

Step 2

Step 02

Using the first section as a guide, comb out the second line diagonally at 45 degrees and cut. Divide into three equal parts as the panel width increases.

Step 3

Step 03

Continue lifting each section at a consistent angle, working up toward the top, to build an even layer across the entire head.
